As a Registered Training Organisation (No 726), we are accredited against all standards of the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) We are governed by an elected Board of Management which is comprised of community leaders who, on a voluntary basis, contribute their expertise and professional standards to the management of the organisation.
IWSC has adopted policies which ensure that all dealings are conducted in an ethical and professional manner.
HISTORY
We were established in 1985 to conduct the Community Youth Support Scheme which provided assistance to unemployed and disadvantaged youth in the Inner West of Sydney. In 1989 we broadened our target group to cover the full range of unemployed people as part of the SkillShare program.
In order to diversify our sources of income and provide a "one-stop-shop" for jobseekers, we became a Registered Training Provider in 1992. We have expanded our scope of registration to include clerical, computer, retail, hospitality, warehousing, cleaning, process manufacturing, frontline management, aged care, child care and community services training packages.
In 1998 we joined JOBfutures, which is comprised of not-for-profit community employment and training organisations across Australia. JOBfutures has been able to build a national capacity to deliver services in our local communities. We are able to retain our strong local identity while gaining greater capacity by being part of a national network with all the best practice, contract management and quality assurance strengths which this wider network provides. Jobseekers, employers and government benefit from this unique partnership.
